CHAOS - Youth Ministry

Let me explain CHAOS YOUTH to you!  John 3:16 says, "For God (our Creator) so loved the world (everyone) that He gave (it's a free gift) His only (just one) begotten Son (Jesus Christ) that whosoever (that'd be YOU) believes in Him (and only Him) shall not perish (whew, that's a relief) but have everlasting life.(forever in Glory)"

Joining His team is that simple!!!  CHAOS Youth is a ministry of The Oak Street Baptist Church Youth Department.

Children's Ministry

At Oak Street Baptist Church, we view children to be a precious gift from God. In our Children’s Ministry, we teach children through age appropriate curriculum with Bible study and activities.  We work diligently to encourage each child to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and to assist parents to disciple in their home.

The weekly schedule consists of:

Sunday School at 9:30 AM
Toddler Nursery
1st - 2nd grades
3rd – 5th grades
Morning Worship at 10:30 AM
Pre-K children through 2nd grade can participate in Children's Church during the Morning Worship Service.  Children's Church begins after the Pastor's Pals segment of the worship service.  A nursery is provided for babies during Sunday School and Morning Worship
Wednesday Bible School at 6:30 PM
Pre-K through 5th grade participate in a weekly rotation of Bible Story, Music, Crafts and Creative Learning during this weekly adaptation of Vacation Bible School.  Every 4 weeks the Bible topic changes giving the kids the opportunity to explore the topic through the four different rotations.  A small meal is served.  Feel free to contact the Children’s Ministry Director via email with questions:

Golden Oaks

The Golden Oaks group at Oak Street Baptist meets on a regular basis, typically on the third Thursday of each month at noon.  The meeting usually consists of a potluck lunch, with a special program.

Outings and activities with the group are planned on a routine basis and have included the following:  trip to Pigeon Forge for dinner and a show; trip to Bush's Cannery at Chestnut Hill, and a picnic at Cades Cove.

The group also participates in several on-going outreach projects such as delivering fruit baskets to shut-ins during the Christmas holidays.

Vacation Bible School

Oak Street Baptist hosts their largest outreach effort of the year in July with Vacation Bible School.  Approximately 45 faithful and dedicated individuals work tirelessly to reach children and youth for Jesus during this week-long, evening event.  Workers begin planning for the next VBS as soon as this years' VBS ends.  Several workers participate in training opportunities at Lifeway's Ridgecrest Conference Center in North Carolina in January, as well as training on a regional and association level.

Each night consists of a Worship Rally, Bible Study, Missions, Music, Crafts, and Recreation, all specifically designed for each particular age group.  Since most of our workers come directly from work, Snack workers go above and beyond to provide children and adult workers with a more substantial (snack) instead of just chips and a drink.

Online registration for this event will begin May 1st.  Please see the Vacation Bible School page for more information.
